Letter from the President

Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year

Dear Blair Families, Teachers, and Community,

Hello! I’m Kate Mayfield, your new PTSA president. I’m thrilled to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year.

Last year was my daughter’s first at Blair as a sixth grader. Watching her navigate the transition into middle school, I was delighted by everything Blair had to offer—and grateful for a supportive environment that challenged and inspired her. At the same time, like many of you, I felt a constant undercurrent of anxiety around district budget challenges and district-wide changes.

While those district conversations continue, our kids’ lives and education are happening right now. Every day, Blair is giving them a foundation they will build on for the rest of their lives. Our mission as the PTSA is to support that foundation—giving our students the experiences, culture, and traditions they will carry with them into adulthood. We’re also here to support our educators in the essential work they are doing for our children. 

Whatever your child is involved in at Blair, your participation and involvement in the PTSA strengthens us all. Here are three ways you can get involved:

  1. Become a Member: If simply joining the PTSA for the year is all you can do right now, that is plenty. Your membership adds vital strength and funding to our campus. 
  2. Add a Direct Donation (or Join a Monthly Dine-Out): If you're able, pitch in a few extra dollars with your membership—or grab dinner at one of our monthly dine outs—your contributions fund our school-wide spirit initiatives and community events.
  3. Attend Our First Meeting: If you want to dive a little deeper, join us for our first meeting on September 22nd! We promise to make it worth your time. We’ll serve dinner, provide full Spanish translation, and share specific, high-impact projects you can jump in on. We’ll also be asking for feedback and ideas to guide our planning for the year. 

Strengthening this community starts with all of us. At any level that you can participate, I am so excited to partner with you this year!
