Program of Study
All HCA students undergo a rigorous course of study to allow students to prepare in the sciences and explore their interest in the health field. The typical course of study for students can be found below, though variation does exist based on student needs.
9th grade
English - 9th grade English
Math - varies based on student placement
Science - Biology
PE - PE class or jROTC
CTE (Career Technical Education) - Health Careers Exploration
Elective - Foreign language or art
10th grade
English - 10th grade English
Math - varies based on student placement
Science - Chemistry
History - World History
PE - PE class, jROTC or credit may be earned through sports participation and another elective taken in this space
CTE (Career Technical Education) - Anatomy and Physiology (also credited as an a-g lab requirement)
11th grade
English - 11th grade English or IB English
Math - varies based on student placement
Science - Biotechnology (may also choose to take IB Biology)
History - US History
Elective - Student choices include Spanish, IB Spanish, art, photography
CTE (Career Technical Education) - Anatomy and Physiology for the 2022-23 year and Sports Medicine year one after 2022-23
12th grade
English - 12th grade English (ERWC) or IB English
Math - varies based on student placement
Science - choice of Physics, IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science, continuing in IB Biology, or no science as requirement has been fulfilled
History - US Government and Economics
Elective - Student choices include Spanish, IB Spanish, art, photography
CTE (Career Technical Education) - Sports Medicine
